PSALM 50:3-5

3. Our God shall come and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before Him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about Him.

4. He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that He may judge His people.

5. Gather My saints together unto Me; those that have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice. KJV.

Definitions

Sacrifice -c) a slaughter

Tempestuous -c) to storm, to shiver, i.e., fear, come like a whirlwind

Tempestuous -d) violent, turbulent.

When Elijah went to Mount Horeb to the mount of God, there was a great and strong wind that broke the rocks in pieces, then an earthquake and then a fire, 1Kings 19:11-12. Elijah was running from Jezebel and needed to talk to the Lord. He came down.

When David cried in his distress to the Lord about his enemies, the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because He was wroth. There was smoke out of His nostrils and fire out of His mouth. He came down. Psalm 18:6-9

Psalm 50 is saying that it shall be very violent and turbulent around the Lord. He was upset because He does not like His people to be in harm’s way. He comes to set them free. That is what the last days are about. He is coming with a new heaven and new earth because of the overwhelming sin of mankind. He is calling His people unto Himself.

He says in Psalm 50:5 that He is gathering all that have made a covenant with Him by sacrifice. Then He goes on to say He gets no pleasure in the blood of animals. What He desires is praise and thanksgiving and to call upon Him in the day of trouble and follow what He says to do. (Verse 14-23)

Elijah and David ran to the Lord in their times of trouble, and He heard and answered them. I believe there are many of God’s people who are crying out to Him in their trouble. He is waiting, but He won’t wait much longer. He will come and when He does the earth shall shall shake, the winds will be violent and the fire will go before Him.

Psalm 97: 1 The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

2. Clouds and darkness are round about Him; righteousness and judgment are the habitation of His throne.

3. A fire goeth before Him, and burneth up His enemies round about.

4. His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.

5. The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord; at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

6. The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the people see His glory.

When He comes it will be tempestuous, but it is for our good to burn up our enemies and draw us into the Kingdom of His Love where we will be forever beholding His beauty and glory eternally. It may sound scary for some but not for His own!
