For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest until her imputed righteousness and vindication go forth as brightness, and her salvation radiates as does a burning torch. Amp.
Isaiah 60:15 Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no man passed through you, I will make you (Jerusalem) an eternal glory, a joy from age to age. Amp.
The small physical country of Israel is known for having few allies. It has continually been a land of violent attacks from enemies, not a safe place to live or visit. There is now spiritual Israel that has Jesus for their King and is also a land of few allies, with many attacks from enemies.
Jesus foretold all of this to the disciples, Matt. 24:9 Then they will hand you over to suffer affliction and tribulation and put you to death; and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. Vs.13 But He who endures to the end will be saved.
John 16:33 I have told you these things so that in Me you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration: but be of good cheer — take courage, be confident, certain, undaunted — for I have overcome the world. I have deprived it of power to harm, I have conquered it for you. Amp.
He is giving the disciples a look at some of the things they will encounter. He did not make it look easy. He was preparing them for the road ahead. Then He told them that they need not fear for He had conquered the world for them. He had not suffered on the cross as yet. The disciples could have changed their minds and said this is not what I signed up for.
They all stayed. All except for Judas who was planning to betray Jesus as we know. We have to expect rejection and suffering. It goes along with who Jesus is.
1John 3:13 Do not be surprised and wonder, brethren that the world detests and pursues you with hatred.
We have to follow the Lamb wherever He goes. Many times, that will lead you where you do not want to go. How can there be any reward at all if every day was sunshine and roses? He has a plan for each of us. If it does not include being hated and forsaken by those who are convicted by your life, then you might be on the wrong road.
He is saying in Isaiah 62:1 that the end is the time when He turn things around. Those who have suffered for His name’s sake will be recompensed. He will make them exceedingly beautiful in His Hand (vs. 3). All will know that He is vindicating them. All the lies and persecution will be made right by Him.
Yes, there will a time of great suffering, but there will also be a time of great recompence. It is coming soon. If we are prepared and expect it, He will strengthen us to endure ever hardship. He is good and cannot lie. The good will outweigh the bad always. He will be there with us every step of the way!
