LUKE 21:28

28. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Definitions

Redemption -c) ransom in full, deliverance, salvation.

Luke 21:25 And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress (trouble and anguish) of nations in bewilderment and perplexity (that is, without resources left wanting, embarrassed, in doubt, not knowing which way to turn) at (the echo) the roaring of the tossing of the sea;

26. Men swooning away or expiring with fear and dread and apprehension and expectation of the things that are coming on the world; for the very powers of heaven will be shaken and caused to totter.

27. And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with great (transcendent and overwhelming) power and all His kingly) glory (majesty and splendor).

Luke 21 is one of the end times chapters of the New Testament. It is the only one that says what verses 25 and 26 say. It is very important that we are ready for the Lord to come back. It says that times will be so bad that men’s heart will fail them. Fear will be the cause of heart failure because of the things that are coming upon the earth.

It says men are left without the needed resources to see them through. Just what are these resources. Verse 34 gives us the answer.

Luke 21:34 But take heed to yourselves and be on your guard lest your hearts be overburdened and depressed — weighed down –with the giddiness and headache and nausea of self-indulgence, drunkenness, and worldly worries and cares pertaining to the business of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.

This scripture is saying that if our heart is overburdened with fear, cares and anxiety we could be caught in a trap of depression and turn to the flesh for a temporary fix. When depression comes, self-pity comes along with it. Then we begin to pamper the flesh by overindulging in whatever makes us feel better.

You can become drunk with things besides alcohol. Overdoing anything is wrong, especially when it is used to make pain go away. What is the answer? The resources we need in verse 25 are in Romans 5.

Romans 5:3 Moreover — let us be also full of joy now! Let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that the pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance.

4. And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character that is approved faith and tried integrity. And character produces the habit of joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation. Amp.

We are being told that our afflictions and sufferings lead us to the resources that give us the maturity of character that will produce faith in our heart and help us to stand when the Lord returns. We must learn to focus on the good in our lives and cast our care upon the Lord.

We are seeing signs in the sun, moon, and stars. There are solar storms almost every week. They used to be very rare, but now a common thing. The last very important thing I heard was a CME coming out of a star that had the name that meant Dragon (EK DRACONIS). CME’s have only come out of the sun and have not caused significant damage as yet.

They seemed to think A CME from this star could knock out the power of whole cities. This is the beginning of the powers of heaven being shaken. Not to mention the increase of earthquake and volcanic activity. If you do your best to stay away from the trials of affliction that the Lord sends your way, you are doing yourself great harm.

It seems the Body of Christ looks down on those who suffer, and this should not be. Many will be without the greatly needed resources and fear will overwhelm them.

Luke 18:8 …However, when the Son of Man comes will He find faith on the earth?
