PSALM 5:7 But as for me, I will enter Your house through the abundance of Your steadfast love and mercy; I will worship toward and at Your holy temple in reverent fear and awe of You. Amp.
Abundance – d) great plenty, more than enough, wealth.
Steadfast – d) firm, fixed or established.
Mercy – d) a refraining from harming or punishing offenders, enemies, etc.; kindness in excess of what may be expected; kind or compassionate treatment.
This is a Psalm of David and he is looking around at the wickedness and the boasters in the previous verses who are not standing in His sight. He has to get his mind off of the evil around him and proclaim that “as for him, he will worship.” That is what we are to do in our worship.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. If the truth is not in us, how can we worship? We must come unto Him and get to know Him. How else can you love someone without knowing them?
How many large congregations have you seen filled with people on Sunday morning, singing songs of worship? To worship in truth means that we mean what we say. If we sing and do not mean our words is that not speaking a false statement? The Lord is listening to everything.
When I was around 12 years old I took instructions to become a Catholic with my mother and brother. My step-father was Catholic so we were becoming Catholic. I remember I was never taught about Jesus or the cross, only about certain rituals as communion, confirmation, confession, venial sins and mortal sins. We had to memorize Hail Mary and The Act of Contrition. We knew the Our Father all ready. They gave us a book to follow along in Mass.
Never was the Bible mentioned or worshipping the Lord. I only knew in my heart that I was supposed to pray. So I would always kneel in the pew and pray for my family. I know He heard many of my prayers. I prayed for My brother who went to Viet Nam and came back safely. But I remembered looking up at the crucifix at the altar and asking, “Why did you have to die on the cross?” I did not know the most important thing.
I took instructions to become Catholic and had no clue why Jesus died on the cross. How is that possible? I know He heard that prayer because He pulled us out of the Catholic Church and explained everything. In David Wilkerson’s book “The Cross and the Switchblade,” it talks about how Catholic Priests were effected by how the Lord used him with the gang members and drug addicts.
It said in the book that the Charismatic Renewal in the Catholic Church came from it. My mom went to a meeting and was prayed for and slain in the Spirit. She was on the floor, in the Spirit for an hour. She got up a totally different person. She was so happy and all she could do was talk about the Holy Spirit. I wanted what she had and a little bit later, I got it. The Lord is so good.
How many people today are sitting in large congregations asking questions like I did? He hears everything. He knew how to pull me out of a dead ritualistic church and knows how to pull others out of Churches that do not worship in Spirit and in Truth.
Haggai 2:6 … Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake and make tremble the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. 7. And I will shake all nations, and the desire and the precious thing of all nations (Jesus) shall come in, and I will fill this house with splendor, says the Lord of Hosts. 9. The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts, and in this place I will give peace and prosperity, says the Lord of hosts.
There is a great final outpouring coming that will reach out to all those lost souls who are sitting in pews asking questions like I did. He will answer them and bring them in. That is the abundant, steadfast mercy of the Lord.
