JULY 21, 2021 SCRIPTURE AND SONG “AT THE END OF YOUR ROPE”

Psalm 116:6-8 The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He helped me and saved me.

7. Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

8. For You have delivered my life from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling and falling. Amp.

Definitions

Rest – c) consolation, still.

Bountifully – c) benefit or requite, to ripen, bestow on, recompense, reward.

Delivered – c) to pull off, equip for fight, strengthen.

There are many times for all of us that life comes at us from all directions. We know we should be strong and not complain, not get angry, not allow self pity to have its way and not grow discouraged. This is Satan’s plan of attack for each of us. We all have to fight this same enemy though in different ways.

We have a sin nature that we were born with that has to die. If we just give in to these feelings we are feeding our old man. The only way is to resist and not feed these tendencies. How do we resist when we have run out of strength and the flesh is ruling?

“You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and His rule.” Matt. 5:3 MSG

This passage is from the Message Bible which is very different but tells truth in modern terms. This is from the beatitudes, the poor in spirit. The Lord allows trials in our life so we can come to the end of ourselves so we can see where we need to change. He won’t do anything without our permission.

When we see these problems, as we react maybe from past wounds or just bondages that we need to go, we are to bring them to the throne room to get help in times of need. Heb. 4-16 You have not because you ask not. But when we do ask for help when we are at the end of our rope, He is always there to set us free, deliver us and put our feet on the rock which is Jesus.

The result is strength and rest for our soul. He never enjoys our suffering and is always ready to reward us for our pain. Now is the time to rejoice and enjoy the blessed afterward. “Return to your Rest for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you!”

“God tells me not to faint. But what can one do when he is fainting? …you cease from your own doings. You lean hard. You rest. You lie still and trust. God’s message to us is not, “Be strong and of good courage, for He knows our strength and courage have fled away. But it is that sweet word, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Do not try to be strong, Just be still and know that He is God and will sustain you and bring you through.
