JOHN 10:27-29 The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice, and I know them and they follow Me.
28. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never lose it or perish throughout the ages—to all eternity they shall never by any means be destroyed. And no one is able to snatch them out of My hand.
29. My Father, Who has given them to Me is greater and mightier than all else; and no one is able to snatch them out of My hand.
Jesus was talking to the Jews that were trying to trap Him. They brought up stones to stone Him. They were not His sheep and did not follow Him. How many in that day followed them? Probably all of them. Sheep are not known for being smart. They need to be fed, protected, and cared for. It is always with love and gentleness that the Good Shepherd cares for His sheep.
If He says in the scripture that His sheep hear and are listening to His voice, then He must be speaking to them. There are so many teachings on hearing the Voice of God. Who and what do you believe?
It all begins with prayer and communion. He quit speaking to Eli and started speaking to Samuel because of Eli’s sin. Our relationship with Him must be based on truth. He will answer us at the right time and in the right way. He can use other people, the scriptures, the weather, nature and His voice. He speaks many ways. It is a growing thing that starts out with simple things.
It takes a lot of years of trial and error. You must always remember that He is always in control of what you hear whether it is His voice, the enemies voice or your own voice of self will speaking. He lets us hear all three so we can learn the difference.
I believe it is very important for every believer to make it a practice after prayer time to sit down with your Bible in front of you and to be still in His presence, waiting for Him to speak to you. It takes great patience and determination, but the reward is so wonderful.
You must come with faith believing He will speak to you. You have to cast all your cares upon Him so you will be at rest. He speaks to the quiet place of your heart with His wonderful still small voice. I don’t believe we will ever come to that place of perfection in this area. I have been listening for many years and still have so much to learn. But He will always reward us for our effort and our hearts desire.
SUBJECT — WITHERED BLOOMS — STREAMS IN THE DESERT
But Thy winsome whisper of eternal love spoke more sweetly to our bruised and bleeding souls than any winds that breath across Aeolian Harps. It was Thy “still small voice” that spoke to us. We were listening and we heard. We looked and saw Thy face, radiant with the Light of Love. And when we heard Thy voice and saw Thy face, new life came back to us as life comes back to withered blooms that drink the summer rain.
