5. And the Lord will create over the whole site, over every dwelling place of Mount Zion and over her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night; for over all the glory shall be a canopy — a defense of divine love and protection.
6. And there shall be a pavilion for a shade in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge and a shelter from storm and rain. Amp.
Zion — A term for Jerusalem – the city of David — a desert, solitary place, wilderness.
In verse 2 it says the Branch of the Lord and the fruit will be excellent of those who have escaped of Israel. He is speaking of the wonderful work He does in His people. After the sifting and pruning process the fruit shall be excellent.
Remember when Jesus told Peter, that Satan asked to sift the disciples like grain. The sifting process is a shaking back and forth until the chaff falls from the good portion of the wheat. If we want to be bread for the nations so too we must endure the sifting process. Then the scripture says the fruit shall be glorious and excellent, beautiful and lovely.
I believe Mount Zion is a spiritual place of God’s overcoming remnant. They will be protected in the last days as the Israelites were in Egypt during the plagues. Not only them but their assemblies. As David was shepherd over Israel, the Lord will have many spiritual shepherds who are intercessors and care for those the Lord has given them. (Jer. 23:4-6) These for whom they pray and care for will also be protected though they may not even know it.
This is one of the blessings of the last days army of God. They will live under this divine canopy of God’s love and protection in a way that will become known as a witness, just as the Israelites had light in their dwellings while all of Egypt was in darkness.
In Isaiah 60:1 it says to rise and shine for your light has come. In the Amplified it says to rise from depression to a new life. We must arise and be seated with Him in the heavenly sphere in His presence. That is where we are safe with Him. We must live spiritually raptured so we will be ready when the angels come to take us away physically, Matt. 24:31
