PROVERBS 17:22
22. A happy heart is a good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries the bones. Amp.
This is showing us how important the joy of the Lord is for us. Satan will do his utmost just to bring us down. I always use my joy level to tell me if something is not right inside. I know the Lord wants me to be at rest, No joy is a sign of not being at rest.
PSALM 16:11 You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy, at your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Psalm 16 is showing us all through it that to be in God’s Presence is where we can be happy and safe. The closer we are to Him, the happier we are. Spurgeon says that when Jesus manifests Himself to His people it is heaven on earth. Their souls are steeped in happiness. It is bliss begun. He calls the effects of nearness to Jesus – humility, happiness and holiness.
That is why it is so important to have a rich relationship with Jesus especially in these last days. He will keep you happy in the worst of times. His joy is a tool to fight the enemy. It is a thermometer to show where you are. Satan wants to break our spirit.
Psalm 16:8 says because He is at my right hand, I will not be moved. If we stay close to the Lord and not to this world, we will be safe. No sorrow or trial will be able to move us from our safe position “In Christ.”
What we keep our eyes on will determine our joy or sadness. The Lord has a good plan for us, and the devil has a bad plan for us. Who is going to win this battle? Then that is what we should focus on. In the last days Luke 21 says men’s hearts will fail them for fear because of what is coming upon the earth.
Are we prepared for that day? We must learn now to keep our eyes focused on the good plan that God has for us, so we do not fall apart when this world starts to fall apart. If we follow the Lamb, we will be walking on the path of Life and in His presence, we will be enjoying fullness of joy!
