PSALM 31:19-20

19. Oh, how great is your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear, revere and worship You, goodness which you have wrought for those who trust and take refuge in You before the sons of men!

20. In the secret of Your presence you hide them from the plots of men; You keep them secretly in Your pavilion from the strife of tongues. Amp.

DEFINITIONS

Goodness -c) beauty, gladness, welfare; to be or make good.

Goodness -d) the state or quality of being good; virtue, excellence, kindness, generosity; the best part or quality of a thing.

This wonderful promise is given to the persecuted worshipper. The Lord sees the suffering Saint and looks for ways to bless him in the midst of his suffering. It does not mean the suffering stops. It means in the midst of all the struggles there are blessings so uniquely placed that would never happen otherwise.

He draws them into His presence, and they are safe. Men may try to say and do things to harm them, but it will not affect them. They are safely being persecuted. All along they are with the Lord in such beauty that changes their soul. Their heart is filled up with the goodness of the Lord which encompasses quite a lot. Happiness is on a deeper and higher level than they have ever known or been exposed to.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego could not have been in a more harmful position. They did not fear but kept believing. What was the outcome? They were in the fire with Jesus. This plot had no power over them. The fire did not touch their skin in any way. The power they were in was greater. It became one of the greatest testimonies in the Bible.

What can we learn from them? We must learn that there is a good thing for us to focus on when things are truly difficult. His promise is true. He cannot lie. This is where He becomes our refuge or fear controls us. We must decide which is the way for us.
