PSALM 34:8
8. O taste and see that the Lord (our God) is good! Blessed – happy, fortunate (to be envied) – is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him. Amp.
DEFINITIONS:
Taste -c) to perceive.
Perceive -d) to grasp or take in mentally; to become aware of through the senses.
Taste -d) to experience.
We are being told in this scripture that we can taste the Lord. He is making Himself available to us so we can experience His goodness personally. He wants us to know Him. He is saying come to Me and let me show you Who I Am. Let me show you the difference I can make in your life.
When you try any new food, you taste just a little and see if it is pleasant to you or not. If you don’t like it, you can leave it. But if you like it, you want more. The Lord is confident that when we taste just a little of Jesus, we will always come back for more.
When we taste or experience the Lord we perceive or grasp how great He is. We personally become aware of how far He is willing to go for us. It makes you truly happy to know how good He is.
When we know how good He is we learn to trust Him with our life and give Him more control. Then He draws us nearer and we are blessed. He teaches us how to follow Him and be safe. We learn confident reliance upon Him, and our faith grows.
This is the way to have a rich relationship with Jesus. We taste of His goodness and come back again and again forever and ever. In the last days this is the true riches that will make the difference whether we will stand when He comes back.
When we taste the Lord, this is what we find:
I CHRONICLES 29:11-12 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heaven and the earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and Yours it is to be exalted as head overall. 12. Both riches and honor come from you, and You reign overall. In your hand are power and might: in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. Amp.
