PSALM 103:1-4

  1. Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name.
  2. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
  3. Who forgiveth all thine iniquities: who healeth all thy diseases;
  4. Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
  5. Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. KJV

Let’s look at all the blessings in these 5 verses. We can see how greatly we are blessed when we bless the Lord.

  1. Forgives
  2. Heals
  3. Redeems
  4. Crowns with lovingkindness
  5. Crowns with tender mercies
  6. Satisfies our mouth with good things
  7. Renewed like the eagle

He is trying to let us know His character. He is so very willing to give us good things. He is showing us the way to be blessed. Why are there so many sick people in the world? Why are so many bound up with sin? Why are so many in need of the mercy and love of a father? Why are so many not satisfied with their life? Why are so many people worn out and about to give up?

I guess it is because they do not “Bless the Lord!”

How do we Bless the Lord? The word bless simply means benediction. It can mean anything that makes happy. How do we live? Do we live our life in a way that will make Him happy? We are told over and over in the Psalms to sing praises to Him and worship Him. It does not say to do this only on Sundays at Church. What will bless Him?

He loves us. What do you want when you love someone? I think He wants us to love Him with all of our life. That is what Jesus did. It is really not hard to understand. So why are there so many needy people in this world when He gives us the answer to a happy life?

MATTHEW 13:15 For this nation’s heart has grown gross — fat and dull: and their ears heavy and difficult of hearing, and their eyes they have tightly closed, lest they see and perceive with their eyes, and hear and comprehend the sense with their ears, and grasp and understand with their heart, and turn and I should heal them.
