ROMANS 4:17

17. As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations, – he was appointed our father – in the sight of God in Whom he believed, Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the non-existent things that (He has foretold and promised) as if they already existed.

God told Abraham he was to be the father of many nations when he was childless, and Sarah was past the child-bearing years. God put him in an impossible situation on purpose. He was about to show Abraham How mighty He was. It would make him very strong in faith and in his relationship to God.

Anytime we receive a promise from the Lord, He takes us on a journey like He did with Abraham. God is not limited in any way, and He wants us to learn that. He is more willing to do great things for us than we know.

He wants us to change the way we speak. We are to speak words of faith and not unbelief. We are to be positive and thankful always, never complaining. Our focus is to be positive. If we are positive, we should never be depressed. Thankfulness fights depression. It changes our focus from the negative to the positive.

Abraham did not weaken in faith or focus on his own weakness, (vs.19). The scriptures say that he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God. There is power in praise and worship. It is very important that the songs we sing are about how great the Lord is. Listen to the words you sing. Some of the newer songs focus on man. The older songs focus more on the greatness of God.

Abraham came to the point where he was fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and His promise, (vs.21). We need to follow his example. We have all been given our own special promises from the Lord. He is waiting for us to believe with no doubt or unbelief that they will surely come to pass.

We must make the Lord and all that He is our focus. We must not allow our weaknesses or our circumstances to get in the way. We will always have them but our faith in Him is to be bigger and stronger. We must know for a fact the He will do what He has said and will see us through any difficulties in our path.

HEBREWS 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must believe that God exists and that He is a rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him.

  1. Amen πŸ™πŸΎ. This is why Abraham got the title β€˜Father of faith,’ because he wavered not at the promise of God, but had hope beyond hope. He believed even when his belief seemed impossible to everyone around him, including his wife Sarah. Bless you. πŸ’—πŸ’–
