PSALM 18:37

37. I pursued my enemies and overtook them; neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

This is a Psalm of David. He is in a fierce battle with an enemy that the Lord has given into his hands. David knows this and is fighting with faith in God for his victory. We too have battles that the Lord has promised victory, but we don’t always believe it like David did.

Psalm 18:39 You have girded me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me and caused to bow down those who rose up against me.

40. You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, that I might cut off those who hate me.

41. They cried for help, but there was none to deliver, even unto the Lord, but He answered them not.

42. Then I beat them small as the dust before the wind; I emptied them out as the dirt and mire of the streets.

43. You have delivered me from strivings of the people; You made me the head of the nations; a people I had not known served me.

44. As soon as they heard of me, they obeyed me; foreigners submitted themselves cringingly and yielded feigned obedience to me.

If we look closely at all these scriptures, we see miracle after miracle. David could not have done these things without help from above. He gave David strength for the battle. Then He caused the enemy to turn around so they couldn’t see what was coming. They cried for help. But the Lord was on David’s side. He beat them as dust and sort of swept them away!

He delivered him from the strivings of the people. What does that mean? It means that they tried hard to beat him. But they could not. The Lord said this is the way it is. David was made the head of the nations and they all served him because the Lord said so!

David knew his victories came from the Lord alone and gave him all the credit. He knew he had no strength on his own. He just kept on winning because of the Lord.

Is that not the same for us? If God is for us, who can be against us? He is on our side and will give us strength for every battle. He will subdue them and make us the head. Now it is time to stand up and fight. We have already won and can start to celebrate!

  1. I love King David and my favourite verse is β€˜beating them fine as dust.’ Gotta love our fighter David who taught our hands to do war and our fingers to fight. We no longer fight physical wars but our spiritual battles are just as fierce. Our prayers, worship and praise are our greatest weapons. Bless you. πŸ™πŸΎπŸ’—
