PSALM 16:1

  1. Keep and protect me, O God, for in You I have found refuge, and in You do I put my trust and hide myself.

Psalm 16 is a great Psalm of David. The key to whole message is in verse 1. He has found refuge and places his trust in the Lord. We all have trust but where do we place it? When we are faced with troubles and painful afflictions, where do we go?

ISAIAH 31:1

  1. Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are very strong, but they look not to the Holy One of Israel nor seek and consult the Lord!

Israel had gone to those whom the Lord had delivered them from. How could they go back to their oppressors for help? Yet that is the same thing we do. We are to move forward and find our help from Him. We have been given a new life. We should move forward to the things of God and not backwards to the things of this world.

When we first get saved we are in a new state. We are brand new creatures. Now we are to live that way. We should not go the same places for help. We must learn to place our trust in Him. A lot of trusting Him is in waiting. We grow impatient and want the answer now. When the Lord says trust and wait for the answer.

We have to place our trust completely upon Him and wait for His deliverances. Egypt was Judged for all their sins against Israel. It is very important that we do not insult the Lord by going backward and seeking help from the enemy.

  1. Shouldn’t our default mode fall back to ‘new creature,’, so that we never return to the ‘old man’ who was condemned and destined to rot in Hell, right along with our former slave masters.
