EPHESIANS 5:8-11
8. For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light – lead the lives of those native-born to the Light.
9. For the fruit – the effect, the product – of the Light, the Spirit, consists in every form of kindly goodness, uprightness of heart and trueness of life.
10. And try to learn by your experience what is pleasing to the Lord; – let you lives be constant proofs of what is most acceptable to Him.
11. Take no part in and have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds and enterprises of darkness, but instead let your lives be so in contrast as to expose and reprove and convict them. Amp.
The Lord is giving us step by step instructions into His favor. He wants obedience and sometimes that is not what our nature is telling us to do. We have to make the decision to follow Jesus the best we can and not cause the stumbling of anyone.
To walk in the Light means we cannot go and do things we previously did. As those around us see our new ways they will pay attention. Either they will receive you or reject you. We are to remember they are rejecting the Jesus in you and not you, so that we will not hold grudges.
The Lord will let us know what is pleasing to Him and what is not. That is when others get convicted or receive Jesus in their heart. They will make a distance between you and them if they do not receive your witness.
The Holy Spirit will cause us to feel a check in our spirit when guiding us. We are to pay attention to the checks. When we are about to say something, we are not supposed to say we will feel a check. If we ignore it enough, they will stop. We need to obey the slightest promptings of the Holy Spirit to be in close communion with Him.
We are to be separate from those in darkness and not fellowship or spend our free time with them. Our lives are to be so different now that Jesus dwells within us that others will be so uncomfortable, they will not want to be in His presence. And we will not want to be in the presence of darkness.
The more we obey, the stronger our Light will become. We may not be aware, but those around us will. We will want more and more of Jesus as the hunger for Him increases. And He will quench our thirst!
We know in the last days there will be great darkness covering the earth. We need to learn to walk in the Light so the darkness cannot overtake us or have any power whatsoever upon us! His presence must grow stronger and stronger every day to be safe.
