REVELATION 16:15

15. Lo, I am going to come like a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

Galatians 5:13 For you brethren, were indeed called to freedom; only do not let your freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse for selfishness but through love you should serve on another. Amp.

DEFINITIONS

Watcheth -c) to keep awake; be vigilant.

Vigilant -d) alert to danger.

Selfish -d) having such regard for one’s interests and advantage that the welfare of others becomes of less concern than is considered just.

As we await the coming of the Lord, He tells us we must keep our garments. He is speaking of our spiritual garment which is the Holy Spirit. If we spend time in activities that are of our own self-interests instead of the Lord’s interests the Holy Spirit will leak out.

The Lord never forces us to do His will. He wants us to give to Him as a free will offering out of our love for Him. This does not mean that we do not make mistakes at times thinking we are on the right track to find out that we are not. If our heart is right before Him, He will cause all things to work for our good, even our failures. We are to trust Him to lead us back to the light of the Holy Spirit. How else can we learn?

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do – no matter what it is – in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in dependence upon His person, giving praise to God the Father through Him. Amp.

We must pray and ask the Lord about everything we do even our words. We do not know His will in all things so we must always be asking which is the right way. He wants us to rely upon Him for all things. We need to be alone with Him learning His voice so we can know what is right.

Still there are times that we must go forth not knowing but trusting. We must trust that He will make it all work for our good no matter the outcome. We must put our lives in His hands.

Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore – give strict attention and be cautious and active — for you know neither the day nor the hour when the Son of man will come. Amp.

The meaning of watch is to be vigilant or alert to danger. This is not the same as prayer. We must be alert to the tactics of the devil and learn from the battles we have fought. We must learn the difference between the Lord’s will in our life and learn what He wants. Self must get off the throne and give Him control. We must learn to depend on Him in all of our ways. Selfishness is the beginning of emptiness.

We must be alert to our own actions that would hinder His flow. If we ask, He will show us the right way in all things.

11 Corinthians 5:1-3

  1. For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
  2. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
  3. If so, be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. KJV.

    1. Yes. I agree. He is always telling me to focus on the good and to not focus on the lies of the enemy or circumstances or my own weakness. Joshua and Caleb were the only 2 who did not focus on their weakness but on God delighting in them. Then I can rest when I am focused only on Him. He is so good!!! Thanks for the comment.
