The Lord is telling His people that He has redeemed them and called them by name. He will be with them when they pass through the waters and the fire. He loves them and tells them not to fear. He created them for His glory. He is planning to bring judgment on others that have brought them harm.
He has made them His witnesses. He is going to make a way for them in the wilderness that will prove to the other nations that there is a God who reigns upon the earth. He wants them to see the marvelous things He does for Israel so they will fear Him and repent of their sins.
When He parted the Red Sea for the Israelites, He wanted it to be seen by the heathen nations. He wanted them to see the awesomeness of His great power so they would fear Him. Some may have taken note of it. But is that repentance?
He is great in all of His ways. He always has a plan, especially for the lost. He wants our lives to be that testimony or “evidence” of His power in our life. We should all have a “Red Sea,” testimony in our life that will bear witness to His power in our walk and how He has made a difference.
When My husband and I first got saved, the Church we went to was pastored by a former inmate and a former member of the Hell’s Angels Motorcycle Gang. When my oldest daughter got saved, she went to school and told everyone about our Church and the Pastors. All the kids wanted to come. Their testimony was so amazing to them. It was such a great time.
The Lord does things in big ways to make Himself known. We must look at the things He has done for us and be willing to tell them to the ones He puts in our path. We are His witnesses in these last days that will be heard. Many ears will be opened. Many eyes will see, (verse 9).
