REVELATION 19:7-9

7. Let us rejoice — and shout for joy — exulting and triumphant! let us celebrate and ascribe to Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb at last has come and His bride has prepared herself.

8. She has been permitted to dress in fine (radiant) linen — dazzling and white, for the fine linen is (signifies, represents) the righteousness — the upright, just and godly living (deeds, conduct) and right standing with God — of the saints (God’s holy people).

9. Then (the angel) said to me, write this down: Blessed — happy, to be envied — are those who are summoned (invited, called) to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said to me (further), These are the true words — the genuine and exact declarations of God.

Men and women while on this earth are given in marriage. In heaven they will be as the angels and not given in marriage. All of time has led up to this moment. Jesus has waited patiently for His wedding day. He will be all dressed up in His best royal robe. All will be prepared and waiting.

What a beautiful table will be set with all manner of treasure never seen or tasted by mankind. Nothing is said in scripture about who will be summoned, only that they are blessed.

Who are the guests? Matthew 9:15…can the wedding guests mourn while the Bridegroom is still with them? John 3:29 He who has the bride is the Bridegroom; but the groomsman, who stands by and listens to Him greatly rejoices and heartily on account of the Bridegroom’s voice.

The disciples and John the Baptist are only guests and not the bride. It was their job to introduce the Gospel among such great opposition. Most of them had to die for their faith. They will rule and reign with Him. But still they are not called the bride.

What is different about the bride? She has been permitted to dress in white which signifies the way she lives. She is waiting for her Bridegroom and knows she must be ready when He comes.

How does a bride prepare herself for her wedding day? Everything has to be perfect. You never see a bride with a spot on her dress. Her hair is the best it can be. Her shoes are perfect. Every nail is done with perfection. She is at her best. That is how she has to live because she does not know the exact time of His return for her.

Of course, that is a physical explanation. The true bride of Christ, I believe will be like those in Rev. 7:13-17. They are wearing white because of the tribulation they have been through. They are before the throne and serve Him day and night in His temple. There is no night in heaven, so they are still on the earth, but spiritually before Him.

They are protected under the shelter of His presence. Why protected? They are on the earth and in need of His presence. They neither hunger nor thirst anymore because the flesh does not rule them. This also proves she is still on the earth.

The sun will not smite them or scorching heat. Meaning the last days must be laced with solar attacks from the sun as we have today. And she needs protection only if she is still on the earth.

They follow the Lamb, and He wipes away every tear and gives them the waters of Life. She is with Him already in the Spirit and knows His voice. She drinks of His Spirit and must be full and not allow it to drain out by the cares of this world.

The preparation of the bride is wholly of the Holy Spirit. Flesh and blood cannot live unto perfection. It is only through Him that we reach perfection. But I believe the ones who reach perfection are the bride. Maybe it is the ones who come very close to perfection are summoned.

Many are called but few are chosen. The redeemed of the Lord are many. It is the rewards that differ. The Lord will honor those who hunger and thirst for Him enough to fight for the seat next to Him. When He says to love Him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, will He not honor those who do?
