I have told you these things so that in Me you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer — take courage, be confident, certain, undaunted — for I have overcome the world. I have deprived it of power to harm, have conquered it for you. Amp.
These are the last words the Lord spoke alone to the disciples before He was taken away to be tried and then crucified. His words of advice to them is to take courage, you will have trials in this world but I have overcome them for you. That is also His words to us.
Luke 10:19 Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and (physical and mental strength and ability) over all the power that the enemy (possesses), and nothing shall in any way harm you. Amp.
James 4:7 So be subject to God — stand firm against the devil; resist him and he will flee from you. Amp.
All these scriptures are telling us that the devil cannot harm us. Then why are there many who are being tormented with fear, depression, sickness, rebellious children and unfaithful spouses just to name a few?
Ephesians 6:11 says to put on God’s whole armor. There are so many things we need to do if we are going to fight the good fight. If we are not prepared Satan will intensify his attack and bring more harm. Here is a condensed version of the Armor of God.
The Armor of God
- TRUTH — What lies are you believing?
- RIGHTEOUSNESS — Where is your trust?
- PEACE — No anxiety or fear — Satan does not flee fear.
- FAITH — We must submit to the trials to grow in Faith.
- SALVATION — Do you only drink from the pure wells of Salvation?
- WORD OF GOD — We must live it, speak it and have it inside us.
- PRAYER — We must be a house of prayer or Satan will just laugh at us.
The Lord has laid out His plan for us for our protection. We must learn that in this life we have an enemy who has been assigned to each of us, to destroy us and take us with him to hell. He has been studying all our ways and knows our weaknesses. He is the master of deceit and trickery and we are no match for him.
Jesus defeated him completely on the cross and gave us His authority. If we do not use our weapons and fight – Satan will sneak in and destroy. He never quits, but comes to steal, kill and destroy. John 10:10
We have been called to be in the Army of God and follow Him in battle. We must learn to be vigilant with our spiritual eyes open. 2 Cor. 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (physical), but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.
We must spend time covering our families in the blood of Jesus and binding the spirits that are threatening harm. We do not have to scream at the devil. I think it in my mind and it works. But we do have to spend the time that it takes to get the job done. Then as we resist him and keep our armor on, he will flee!
Ephesians 6:13…and having done all the crisis demands, to stand firmly in your place!
